Almonte's first annual Taste of the Arts Potluck, held at the Old Town Hall on Saturday evening was a modest success. Although performance art was in short supply, a delicious array of potluck meals was on offer including several varieties of lasagne, red pepper shrimp and Cheddar pizza, sausage rolls, rice, black bean chili, bundt cake, apple pie, chocolates and crumble.

Culture Days

The potluck dinner is the brainchild of Arts and Cultural Advisory Committee Chair Ingrid d and Community/ Cultural programmer Nicole Guthrie. "This is a start on which we can build", stated Ms. Guthrie. Councillor Shaun McLaughlin, the Mississippi Mills Council representative on the committee, observed that "you don't need to go anywhere else for culture. You can get your fill of culture right here in Mississippi  Mills". This indeed, is true. Mississippi Mills  has become known for its artists in all fields and the community abounds with cultural events. Said an Ottawa resident and cultural doyenne Diana Kirkwood, "It's the chicest little town in the valley".
