The works demonstrate a broad range of techniques and materials, from traditional to modern, that explore the limits of this textile art.

To illustrate the educational mandate of the OVGS, there is an extensive display of embroidery taught in Guild workshops and classes, and in correspondence courses available through the Embroiderers’ Association of Canada Inc., of which the OVGS is a chapter.

The exhibition includes a juried competition open to OVGS members for the design and completion of an original work on the theme, “The Threads of Life”.

The Ottawa Valley Guild of Stitchery is a teaching guild based in Ottawa that welcomes all persons interested in preserving the art of embroidery and extending the traditions of the past.
