Balcony on Mill Street

Local artist and real estate entrepreneur Stephen Brathwaite and his business partner Dick Veenstra are reconstructing a heritage balcony above Kentfield Kids on Mill Street in Almonte. The balcony, which follows closely the design of the one in this 1916 photo, is attached to buildings owned by Mr. Brathwaite and will restore a further element of charm to the heart of Almonte.

    Beautifull job guys!!! I found it extremely interesting that you were allowed to work directly over the sidewalk all this time without any construction barriers or warning signs or even a building permit posted as is the law. Compared to the scene at my site on Main, you would think someone had influence at the office!!! The town is suing me for the pleasure of having tried to comply to the rules….. go figure.
