The Seniors’ Expo boasts various attractions for seniors, family members and
caregivers living in Mississippi Mills are the surrounding areas. Only in
its second year, the Expo will host over 60 exhibitors, more than double since
last years’ event, and is expected to attract over 500 visitors.
With free admission, the Seniors’ Expo is taking place on
Thursday, September 13th from 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Almonte
Community Centre (182 Bridge Street). John Levi, Mayor of Mississippi Mills,
and representatives from the community, the Almonte Baptist Church, Alzheimer
Society and Mills Community Support will be present for the official opening
ceremony and ribbon cutting.
A wide variety of exhibitors will be present, including
displays by Artswell, the Crazy Quilters and local woodworkers. Door prizes
will be awarded to lucky visitors. Entertainment will also be provided by many
talented local artists and groups. The Appleton Women’s Institute will be
providing an affordable and delicious lunch. Throughout the day, presentations
on various topics will be taking place in the Curling Club lounge. A list of

10:00 – Ontario Provincial Police – “Seniors Take Charge”
10:45 – Jan Watson – “Vial of Life Program”
11:30 – Gambles Funeral Home – “Funeral Preplanning”
12:15 – Almonte Baptist Church – “Moving Beyond the
Limitations of Aging”
1:00 – Rideau Valley Diabetes Services – “Diabetes and
Aging”
1:45 – Don Wiles – “Around the World in 80 Years”
2:30 – Carolyn Klickermann – “Square Foot Gardening”
A new key Seniors Expo sponsor, the Canadian Association of
Retired Persons (CARP), is in the process of setting up a Lanark Chapter and
will host a general membership meeting to establish a Board of Directors. The
meeting will be held at 3:30 p.m. following the Expo in the upper arena hall
and will be open to the public.
