Birders from all over Ontario have been making their way to a neighbourhood in the north end of Pakenham to see a female Bullock’s Oriole — a bird that is typically never seen outside the western-most US states and parts of Mexico.

Ottawa Citizen birding columnist Bruce Di Labio believes this is the first time the species has ever been spotted in the Ottawa region.

The Millstone’s ‘For the Birds‘ columnist, Cheryl Baxter, went to Pakenham today to search for the exotic Oriole and managed to take some lovely photos of this unexpected visitor to Mississippi Mills.
