Local residents protesting the Enerdu project waded into the Mississippi River last evening and formed a chain across the top of the falls. They want the federal government which is now taking a renewed interest in protecting endangered species to stop the project until its effect on the endangered Rapids Clubtail Dragonfly has been determined. Originally biologists hired by Enerdu said they found no evidence of the dragonfly near the site of the proposed project but local residents have found the dragonfly along the river bank both last year and this year. The CBC covered the protest on television, radio and their website today. The protesters are holding a happy hour at the project site this evening.
