Add your name to the Legacy Quilt!

The North Lanark Historical Society is excited to share its Canada 150 project: a community Legacy Quilt!

To celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday, a quilt is being made to commemorate all of the residents of Mississippi Mills. Volunteers are already hard at work sewing the red and white quilt squares and embroidering the names.

This legacy project is an exciting way to celebrate the Sesquicentennial and we hope to include as many residents of the Municipality as possible! Once the Legacy Quilt is completed,  it will be added to the collection of the North Lanark Regional Museum in Appleton. The quilt will be a time capsule of the year 2017 and will be of interest to generations to come. Not only is the Legacy Quilt the perfect opportunity to reach out to all members of the community and unite the residents of Mississippi Mills, it is the perfect fundraiser for the Historical Society and Regional Museum.

If you are interested in adding your name to the Legacy Quilt, the cost in $10 per person or $25 per family (same address). Each name will be hand-embroidered and will provide an important record of Canada’s 150th Birthday in Mississippi Mills. Please send us a note with the proper spelling of your name and how you would like it to appear on the Quilt (ie. John Smith, John and Jane Smith, the Smith Family, etc.).

Your gift will help to preserve and support our local history. All donations will be issued with a charitable receipt. Should you wish further information on this project, please contact Doreen Wilson at 613-256-2866 or doreenwilson@live.ca. Thank you for your support.
