TRAVEL BACK IN TIME and DOWN THE BLAST TUNNEL
Join the Mills Community Support trip to the Diefenbunker on Tuesday, November 14. Buried four stories deep within the Carp Ridge, the 100,000 square foot nuclear fallout bunker was built in great secrecy at the height of the Cold War, between 1959 and 1961. A tour of the bunker, complete with its advanced (for the day) technology, is both chilling and fascinating. During a visit, you will visit rooms built to run Canada’s emergency government: the Prime Minister’s suite with its single bed, the War Cabinet Room, a surgical operating room, and a broadcast centre.
Our bus will transport guests to the Diefenbunker site and back home again, and we will also be enjoying a lunch out.
