“Lost: Pet Pigeon” playing at Union Hall, May 25

Original music by the members of “Judge a Book”

Remember that feeling when you found out that your favourite uncle Bert had a secret life as a rodeo clown? Or when your best friend told you that she had been taking secret hip-hop lessons for the past year? You thought, “Wow! This I’ve got to see!”

Many people know the local cover band Judge a Book. They’ve played for more than 10 years at venues from Middleville to Pakenham, and Almonte to Bennies Corners, for house parties, street markets, country fairs and weddings. The music has always been renditions of recognizable, popular, singable, and familiar music. Mike Wattie, Steve Martin, and Jonas Barter have built a reputation playing for fun parties. It’s cover music with a high fun factor!

But did you know that they are also song writers? Mike writes songs that are heart felt, poignant, and often humourous. Jonas writes songs and poetry that are quirky, sometimes peculiar, and always original. They view their original music as most suitable for a quiet concert setting, rather than a party setting. So they formed a new band … just for their original tunes!

Welcome to Lost: Pet Pigeon. Please see the website for examples of original music and poetry, (and an explanation of the name).

LPP played their inaugural concert at Pressed in Ottawa in February. Many of their loyal Judge a Book fans made the trip from Mississippi Mills and were not disappointed. And now they have booked Union Hall for their first “local” event on Friday, May 25, 2018 at 7:30 PM. It’s at 1984 Wolf Grove Rd, Almonte, ON K0A 1A0. Tickets are $12 and we ask that you please reserve them by sending us a note on our Contact page. And please share with your friends!

(Note: Judge a Book is still available for parties but Lost: Pet Pigeon is where to go now for fun original tunes.)
