Gay Cook is a cookbook author, culinary teacher and food columnist. Her love of cooking has opened the door to help others find pleasure in the kitchen. Food played an important role in her family as her father always said, “you can solve any problem when you sit at the
table and break bread together.” Gay was born in Ottawa where her family was steeped in the world of Canadian food and restaurants. Her father was the co-owner of the legendary Morrison Lamothe Bakery which has morphed into a major supplier of frozen foods to commercial outlets.
After graduation from the Hotel Resort and Restaurant Administration course at Ryerson University, Gay worked in kitchens across Europe, South America and the States.Gay’s column, “Taste of the Town” ran for nine years in the Ottawa Citizen. She also held the position of food columnist with the Ottawa Sun for eleven years.
