For the second year the Carleton Place Detachment has participated in the the 2011 Police Poster Competition contest. The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Recruitment Section, along with the assistance of Community Service Officers, organized the contest to attract children to policing. Grade 3 students from 211 classes in 180 schools across the Ontario created posters to reflecting their view of police officers on the job and in the community.
Fourteen winning posters will be featured in the 2012 “Youth Reflections of Policing” calendar along with a number of honourable mentions. The 14 winners and honourable mentions, their families, and school representatives attended an awards ceremony at the OPP General Headquarters in Orillia, on June 13, 2011.
