Almonte’s charm and reputation as an artist’s hub is attracting new talent.

Almonte has long been known for its artistic community and its charm and two new additions to the town only enhance its stature. Artist and entrepreneur Stephen Brathwaite advised the Millstone that artist Laura Fauquier will open a textile art studio (Lola Dot Studio) on the premises previous occupied by Robin Singleton’s Paper Thin on Mill Street. Laura has been trained at NSCAD (the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in Halifax) which is one of the finest art colleges in the country so it should be an exciting addition to the street.

Almonte’s charm has even reached New York City. Jeff Cavanagh has rented one of his  penthouse apartments in the old Flour Mill on Ottawa Street to a woman who is moving to the Ottawa area from New York City.  She has never been to Almonte before but came out because she heard the Stuart MacLean show on the radio.
