This week (Feb 16 – 22) is Heritage Week in Ontario and time to celebrate and reflect on the things we value in our heritage.  As most people know Mississippi Mills has a rich heritage In both agriculture and industry.  To help to recognize and conserve the visual reminders of the past the municipality has, over the years, designated more than 38 private and public properties. Two of these properties are also recognized at the federal level as national historic sites, the Old Post Office and the Rosamond Woolen Mill Complex (including the Mississippi Valley Textile Museum and the Millfall Condominium).  If you would like to take a virtual tour of the heritage sites in our municipality you can do so by following this link:  Mississippi Heritage Sites  This is a Google Map identifying the locations of designated properties – if you click on a marker it will display a photo and brief description of each property.
If you have any questions about heritage recognition in Mississippi Mills you can contact the Heritage Committee via the town’s website or at mmhc.chair@gmail.com
