As part of Heritage Week celebrations, the North Lanark Historical Society will be holding its Annual Heritage Dinner on Friday February 20th, 2015 upstairs at the Almonte Legion. Cost for the event is $30 per person with social hour beginning at 6PM and dinner served at 7PM. The guest speaker for the evening will be Bruce Toshack, with a presentation entitled “Horses to Horsepower: History of Firefighting in Mississippi Mills”. Mr. Toshack is a long-time member of the Mississippi Mills Fire Department and an avid collector of firefighting memorabilia. He will have items on display as part of his presentation. The evening will also be the official recognition of our Trillium Project entitled “Paving the Way to Sustainability”. The North Lanark Historical Society and the North Lanark Regional Museum are the proud recipients of a grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation for this project. The Trillium funding has allow the museum to hire a Project Coordinator to build the organization’s capacity to recruit and retain volunteers, carry out school programs, develop museum policies and procedures and increase financial sustainability. The dinner will conclude with a silent auction featuring a variety of items donated by local businesses and individuals.
