“Rubber Boot Park Tour of Augusta”

Mills Community Support LogoRubber Boot PosterThe Friends of Augusta Street Park are keen to get back at it. This citizen-led group of Augusta Street Park neighbours are planning a “Rubber Boot Park Tour” to share this community gem. Famous for their “5 Wednesdays in July” free, summer, music concerts; the group is keen to show off the park and its progress to date, as well as look for some help with the plans for 2015. “We love this park and are so happy more and more people are enjoying it,” mentioned friend, Bonnie St. John. “All our activities are based on a commitment to make the park as accessible and age-friendly as possible so it can be used by everyone,” added Barb MacInnis.

“Everyone is certainly welcome at the Rubber Boot Tour. It will be a great way to engage people who care about the park. We’ve had a number of contractors and service clubs who have all offered their help, be it with equipment or financially. We’ll be sending them personal invitations and hoping to connect them to each other in an effort to complete vital elements of our plan to make the park the best it can be. Lots of individuals have also shown interest in our concerts and park elements like the Neighbourhood Tomato Community Gardens. We’ll have a number of “friends” and “Tomato Heads” available to tell the story that is Augusta Park, sign you up as a volunteer, or offer you a garden plot,” mentioned Augusta friend, Linda Nilson. “We have lots more to do and there’s lots of ways people can get involved,” she added.

Everyone is invited to the park on Friday, April 10th between 10 and 12. Coffee will be provided by the Ultramar Gas Station as well as cookies baked by the guys at the Mills, Maude Street home.

Remember your rubber boots and umbrella, just in case of April showers!
