Mills Community Support looking into possibility of starting new Adult Day Away program

Mills Community Support logoIn the past few months we have had several requests from caregivers about having something in place where their husbands/wives/parent could spend a few hours while they have a break to either do some shopping, to play a round of golf or just to relax at home.

Caregiver burnout is an all too familiar issues that we hear about all the time due to the level of care and amount of hours that are spent looking after loved ones and often the caregiver does not have enough time off to have a break and replenish their strength and health.

We have an ever aging population and the vision and mission of Mills Community Support is to support both our clients and their families to allow seniors to remain in their homes for as long as possible.

Please note that this proposed program is intended to give caregivers some time off but it not intended as an Alzheimer’s Day Away Program as that already exists in Almonte.

We would like to have your input to determine if there is a need for this kind of support in Almonte. The more information we receive from the public in our community the more able we are to make an informed decision about how we can facilitate a service that will benefit everyone.

If you are interested in learning more about what we are proposing, or, if you have any ideas for this program, we would love to hear from you.

We would need to know how many days and hours per week would be required to have this in place, what days of the week would be best, and any other pertinent information you think would help us to provide this type of program.
