Are YOU looking for a fun activity this winter? Something to get you out of the house for a couple of hours, get some exercise, meet new people and have fun. Well the Almonte Curling Club (ACC) is looking for you.
The Almonte Curling Club has a full range of programs to allow beginners and experienced curlers of all ages to enjoy the sport at a time and level of their choice.
In our Youth Program kids can begin at 7 years old in our Little Rocks program, then move on to Bantams and then to Juniors. The season begins in October and ends at the end of March and is organized by qualified coaches. They curl once a week, the whole season is only is $75.00 and all they need for Little Rocks is a clean pair of running shoes and a CSA approved helmet. This is one of the least expensive sports in town.
Our adult evening mixed program has both non-competitive and competitive formats. Monday night is non-competitive and is designed as an option for people who cannot commit to weekly curling. You just show up and teams are created for the night. Thursday night is also non-competitive. Different teams are created three times through the season and each team is comprised of both experienced and novice curlers. The more competitive curlers take advantage of our Wednesday night fixed team format.
Our day curlers program is very easy going. You do not have to find a team to join or commit to being there on specific days, you just show up and you are placed on a team for that day. This program has three draws and you can pay separately if you go away for part of the winter. You can also learn to curl with a cue and many do. It’s been organized to be flexible for mature day curlers.
And this year, we are introducing a new Monday Morning Ladies League. Whether you are a stay-at-home mom, have a flexible work schedule or are retired, this league is ideal for: new curlers; curlers with limited experience; and for experienced curlers seeking additional on-ice time. This is a morning of fun, non-competitive play. The teams are made up each Monday giving you the freedom to come when you are available.
In order to register, visit our website at www.almonte.ovca.com, print off the registration forms and mail them to ACC, 160 Bridge Street, Box 309, Almonte, Ontario, K0A 1A0.
Looking forward to seeing you on the ice!
