Scottish Entertainment on St. Andrew’s Day in Lanark – November 30

Lanark

St. Andrew’s United Church in Lanark will be holding its fifth annual celebration of Saint Andrew, the Patron Saint of Scotland, on Monday evening Nov. 30 at 7 pm in the church hall on Clarence St.

Lanark’s St. Andrew’s United Church was built in part with funds received from the homeland of Scotland. Come and join the fun as we look back at our Scottish roots and show our appreciation in the celebration of Saint Andrew’s Day.

Admission is by donation at the door and we encourage the wearing of your favourite or family plaid tam, scarf, tie or kilt to add to the festivities. Everyone is welcome plaid or not!

Our MC for the evening will be Rev. Shelley Roberts and the local entertainment will include Men o’ the Clyde, under the direction of Larry Paul, singing many favourite Scottish songs. St. Andrew’s Five- Allan Stewart (fiddle), Doug Davidson (guitar), Grant McFarlane (piano), Collins Evans (guitar) and Jack Greer (banjo) will be playing toe tapping tunes handed down from our Scottish ancestors. One highlight of the evening will be Arianne, Annika and Anastasia Burnside step-dancing and playing their fiddles. You won’t want to miss the parade of 10 delicious homemade pies which will be auctioned off by auctioneer Alex Cuthbertson. Do a little shopping at our Silent Auction table of items and talents from the congregation and community.

The evening will close with the serving of Scottish snacks and refreshments.

Proceeds will be directed to the care and upkeep of St. Andrew’s United Church this winter. Please join us for a fun evening featuring local talent celebrating our Scottish heritage on Saint Andrew’s Day, Monday, November 30 at 7pm.
