  3. The black and tan-coloured Airedale, the largest of all terriers, was originally bred to hunt otters.
  4. The Dog Star, or Sirius A, is the brightest star in the night sky. Sirius is from an ancient Greek word for ‘scorching’ or ‘glowing’.
  5. A stook is a stand of cut grain sheaves arranged – after harvesting it – in a field.
