North Lanark Historical Society kicks off spring speaker series

Join the North Lanark Historical Society on Sunday, April 8th at 2:00 pm for a presentation by author and researcher George Neville at the North Lanark Regional Museum in Appleton (647 River Road). This is the first talk to kick off our Spring Speaker Series! George will be discussing the surveying of the Richmond Military Settlement by Joseph Fortune, whose family had settled in Point Fortune, Québec.

George is a past editor of OGS Families Magazine, as well as a researcher, author and past president of the Ottawa Historical Society. He is also a direct descendant of Loyalist Daniel Shipman, the founder of Almonte.Copies of George’s recent publication on Loyalist Land Grants Along the Ottawa River will also be available for sale and signing.
