Tree-mendous Arbour Week Events in Mississippi Mills

On Monday, April 23, Diana Beresford-Kroeger brings her film Call of the Forest <calloftheforest.ca> to the Almonte Old Town Hall at 7:30 pm.

Diana is a world recognized author, conservationist and scientist who has a unique combination of western scientific knowledge and the traditional concepts of the ancient world. The film follows her on her journey to the most beautiful forests of the northern hemisphere. From the sacred sugi and cedar forests of Japan, the ancient Raheen Wood of Ireland, the walnut and redwood trees of America, to the great boreal forest of Canada, she tells us the amazing stories behind the history and legacy of these ancient forests while also explaining the science of trees and the irreplaceable roles they play in protecting and feeding the planet. Admission is free, and Diana will be in attendance at this event.

Then on Wednesday, April 25, Allan Goddard will give a free talk entitled “What tree should I plant in my backyard?” at 7:30pm at the Almonte Old Town Hall. For more information about these and other Arbour Week events, visit the Mississippi Mills Facebook page.

And please note that the pick-up day for trees ordered through the Hub Hospice Tree Sale has been rescheduled to Saturday, April 28 from 9am to 1pm at the Mississippi Mills Municipal Garage (3131 Old Perth Road in Almonte).
