Head coach named for Almonte-owned hockey franchise

West Carleton Inferno Junior Hockey Club announces its first Head Coach

The West Carleton Inferno Junior Hockey Club is very pleased to announce that Hamish Fraser has accepted the position of Head Coach and Associate General Manager for our inaugural season in Carp ON.

Hamish is a resident of nearby Carleton Place, married and a proud father of 3 hockey-loving children.  He brings a wealth of coaching experience to our club.  After many years of coaching competitive minor hockey leading to 2 season championships and another 2 seasons as finalists, Hamish turned his sights onto junior hockey.

Another 7 years as coach and general manager at the junior B hockey level with the EOJHL and CCHL2 led to 2 division championships and another 2 strong showings as league finalists.  Hamish was awarded the EOJHL Coach of the Year honors in 2012-13 while he was the Head Coach and GM of the Perth Blue Wings.

Hamish is no stranger to success as a player either, having been part of the Kemptville 73’s Junior B club that went undefeated in the 1996 season and carried on to win the league championship.

With respect to his coaching philosophy, Hamish says, “I am a communicative style of coach.  I encourage players’ input and by doing so create a strong relationship built on respect.  I put the players first and thus create tight bonds that allow for success on the ice but more importantly, I believe it helps enable success off the ice as well.”

John Miotla, President and General Manager has stated, “I am thrilled to have Hamish on board with us as we start the process of building a team to play out of our new home at the W. Erskine Johnston Arena in Carp.  This will be great for our players and I personally couldn’t ask for a better coach and mentor to help us on this journey.”
