Spring hike on Blueberry Mountain with Thoreau

“In Wildness is the preservation of the world” David Henry Thoreau

Henry David Thoreau presented his ideas to a group of 40 hikers on a sunny Sunday morning in May at Blueberry Mountain some 140 years after his death.  He said that the route to happiness is to know what you don’t need to own. (Howard Clifford of Cliffland stood in for Mr. Thoreau on this occasion.)

The hike, sponsored by Hummingbird Chocolate Makers of Almonte, was hosted by the Mississippi Madawaska Land Trust (MMLT) and the Clifford family, the owners of this beautiful property.
