Happy coincidence has fallen to the Almonte Lecture organizers. The final Friday night lecture, April 28, will feature Almonte newcomers, David and Alison Burkett, who last year completed a 1200 km. tour of the canals and waterways of Ontario.  Sixty-eight days on the water culminated in a treasure trove of beautiful professional photos as well as stories, history and architectural knowledge.  Seeing the canals from the waterway is entirely different that sitting on the shore watching the boats go through the locks. David and Alison’s adventure might even encourage others to try this trip.

Embarking on a sojourn of this magnitude can often change the course of lives, and such was the case for the Burketts. Originally form the Kitchener-Waterloo area, Alison and David have chosen Almonte as their new home, and there will be no doubt after seeing this brilliant presentation, that this community will be the richer for their presence here.

Take a trip through nature and history; be inspired to launch on a personal adventure; enjoy the beauty that we often take for granted right on our own doorsteps.  The lecture will be Friday, April 28, 7:30, at the United Church Community Hall. Donations are appreciated, but not necessary. This will be a good opportunity to hear what is planned for next season as well.
