Backyard birds, December 27

by Brent Eades

I fill my feeders only in the winter months, when the birds can use some help finding food — especially during a week like this when temperatures are extreme.

I’m seldom home during daylight hours in the winter and so rarely have a chance to photograph the birds that visit my feeders. But this week I’m on vacation, so here are a few photos from the yard today.

Cardinal female
Black-capped chickadee, with peanut
Dark-eyed junco
Blue jay
American tree sparrow
European starling
Cardinal male
