On the first weekend in June Busfusion at the Almonte Fair Grounds has become a tradition but this year over 200 Volkswagon vans arrived to set a record in numbers. The weather cooperated so the planned activities were well attended. John Reid, Frank Condelli and their committee were tired but happy with the Almonte event.
Saturday evening the hall was filled to capacity for a community dinner , awards presentation and dancing into the next day. Directors from the Almonte Fair Board were very happy to receive generous support from the people at Busfusion for their renovation project of the Ag Hall. They held draws for a beautiful quilt composed of colourful volkswagons ,a tent, etc., presenting well over $1000 to the fund. As well 5 sturdy picnic tables were donated since the location by the river and the use of the hall all weekend makes Almonte their favorite destination.
Everyone was happy to see Linda Alcock win the quilt since she worked to create it.
The Farmer’s Market, downtown merchants and the Almonte Flea Market all benefited from increased traffic and sales this weekend so we look forward to this friendly group with many dogs and children in tow ,returning next year. It’s the only time one sees signs in the hall such as “All dogs must be on a leash in the hall” and “ Man in Shower” in the ladies bathroom.
