Mills Community Support Gets a Big Boost from Orchard View by the Mississippi

Orchard View by the Mississippi has taken on the role of “Title Sponsor” for the first annual Duffer’s Delight Golf Tournament, which will take place at the Canadian Golf and Country Club on Thursday October 1st, 2015. The tournament, organized by the Resource Development Committee of Mills Community Support, will dedicate the proceeds to the Country Street Centre, a new 2300 square foot community facility that will join the two existing buildings that comprise the Town and Country Seniors Apartments in Almonte.

Soon be a close neighbor of both the Mills Community Support home office and the Country Street Centre, this family-owned company is currently constructing a new seniors’ housing facility called Orchard View on the Mississippi. Known for their strong support of the communities in which they operate, the Orchard View family is a welcome addition to Mississippi Mills and a very welcome supporter of the Mills Community Support tournament.

The Country Street Centre will provide an accessible space for seniors and community members to participate in health, social and recreation activities close to home, with construction set to begin in April 2016. The total cost of completing this centre is estimated at $1.2M, with $100,000 needing to be raised right here in our community. The balance of funding will be sourced through a combination of government and internal resource allocations.

Individuals who would like to show their support for Country Street Centre are encouraged to register for the tournament on October 1st, which happens to be the United Nations International Day of Older Persons. Golfers will enjoy a great morning playing 9 holes of golf followed by lunch in the beautiful dining area of the Canadian Golf and Country Club. Registration for the event is $100.00, of which $40.00 is eligible for a tax receipt to the player. Golfers will have the chance to win a fantastic hole in one prize; a Trip to Las Vegas, or $3,000, donated by Wentworth Financial Financial Services.

Individuals who do not play golf can still participate in the tournament as “Virtual Golfers”, also at a cost of $100.00 per registrant, with $80.00 of that fee being eligible for a tax receipt. These supporters will have the opportunity to participate in all of the fun activities on the day of the tournament, including the luncheon.

A variety of sponsorship opportunities are still available to show your support for the Country Street Centre such as pledging a donation to individual golfers, or by encouraging three of your friends to participate as a Corporate Foursome from your workplace at a cost of $500.00 for the day.
