Fatal crash closes Highway 7

(TAY VALLEY TOWSHIP, ON) – Officers from the Lanark County Detachment of the OPP are currently dealing with a fatal collision on Highway 7, in Tay Valley Township.

Officers were called to the scene just west of Silver Lake Provincial Park at 04:26 pm on Monday August 7, 2017. Investigation revealed two vehicles collided and one driver sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The other driver was conveyed to hospital in Kingston with serious injuries.

Eastbound traffic is being diverted on Zealand Road and via Maberly-Elphin Road to Highway 7 and westbound traffic is being diverted at Maberly-Elphin Road and via Zealand Road to Highway 7. Road users are advised that they will have to exercise care and use lower speeds on the detour route.

The investigation is active and ongoing. The detour is expected to be in place until at least 11:00 pm Monday August 7.
