Almonte documentary filmmakers Robert and Sharon Newton are pleased to announce their latest documentary film entitled “The Story of Perth”.
To properly accommodate the rich and fascinating history of Perth, the film is a three-hour series composed of two 90-minute, feature length films.
Part One tells the fascinating and compelling stories of the first 100 years of historic town from its founding in 1816 as a military settlement, through to the dawn of the modern era at the end of World War One.
There are stories of the tumultuous, often whiskey-soaked early years complete with deadly encounters and other gruesome and ghostly events. There are also stories of many highly accomplished people and their stellar achievements along with vignettes from the every day lives of well known, and not so well known Perthites.
The first film features over 100 historic photos, gorgeous high definition footage of modern day Perth, and on-camera interviews with many long time residents, some of whom are also extensively well researched historians, and all of whom have wonderful first hand stories, memories and knowledge about the people, places and events that make up the heritage and history of Perth.
Part One will premiere in the Full Circle Theatre at 26 Craig Street in Perth at 7:30 PM on Friday, June 5, 2015. There will be additional showings at 2:00 PM and 7:30 PM on Saturday, June 6th.
