For the Birds: Spring Birds

What a treat to wake up to sunshine this Monday morning!  I think we all can use a big break from all the rain of late.

I have been in search of Sandhill Crane for the last few weeks. I can hear them often on property backing mine, and I keep hoping to see them.  Last summer we were very fortunate to have them up on Cedar Hill Side road on a regular basis. On Saturday afternoon, my husband and I were driving up Cedar Hill and as we were nearing the highway, we saw a big beautiful Sandhill Crane flying to our left, and then proceeded to land in the corn field near the highway.  Did I have my camera?  No.   This teaches me to never leave home without it!

Today I am posting some of my recent feathered sightings from the last couple of weeks. Most of them taken on my property and in the near vicinity.  (Unless otherwise indicated on the photo)

Please enjoy my photos and feel free to comment, or ask questions.

Here’s to a week of feathers and beaks!   ~Cheryl Baxter

P.S.  If you notice the word ‘LIFER’ in my posts…that means it’s a first time capture for me!  I am always super thrilled to capture a new species, especially if I can photograph it clearly!
