The Governor General’s Lawn Bowling Tournament will take place at the Almonte Lawn Bowling Club on Saturday September 3, 2016, 157 Robert Street in Almonte.


Opening ceremony begins at 10:00 a.m with a colour parade led by a piper, and singing of the national anthem in both official languages. The first game begins at 10:30 a.m. Lunch will be served to participants in the tournament at noon, and the second game is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m to be followed by the presentation of trophies and medals.

The Governor General’s Tournament provides opportunity for top players from Ontario to compete with top players from Quebec in Men’s and Women’s Fours, and Men’s and Women’s Novice Singles. Hosted in alternate years by a club from each province, this year, Almonte Lawn Bowling Club has been selected as the tournament venue because of its reputation for excellent greens and club facilities, and its friendly, welcoming members.

Public are welcome to view the event and see the physical changes to the Almonte Lawn Bowling made possible by a $95,000 grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation. Burgers and pop are available for sale to spectators for $5.
