The Canadian Hospice Palliative Care Association initiative, “Hike For Hospice”, will be held across Canada on Sunday, May 7th.  This is the largest fundraising event for hospices across the country.

The Hike for Hospice will occur once again at the Mill of Kintail, in support of our own Hub Hospice Palliative Care (HHPC) program.

HHPC is a not-for-profit registered Canadian Charity funded through donations and targeted fundraising initiatives such as the Hike for Hospice.  HHPC is a “hospice without walls”, providing in-home palliative care support for adult clients and their families.  Their services are offered in North Lanark, which includes the towns of Almonte (Mississippi Mills), Pakenham, Blakeney, Appleton, Clayton and Carleton Place.  For more information about HHPC services please visit or contact the volunteer coordinator, Allison Griffith, RN, at or by calling 613-406–7020.

The Hike for Hospice will be a fun-filled afternoon with activities that include a petting zoo, Jessica’s Syrian food and BBQ, and a chance to chat with a veterinarian and other locals.  Event registration will begin at 11:30 am and the Hike will commence at 1 pm and continue through to 3 pm.  At the end of the Hike there will be prizes for the person who collects the most pledges; the person dressed in the most outrageous outfit; and for the dog who collects the most pledges.

Come and enjoy an afternoon with your family and friends on the beautiful trails at the Mill of Kintail.  Bring your dog for some exercise.  Enjoy the company of other fellow supporters for the Hike for Hospice knowing that every dollar raised goes towards palliative care support in our own community.

Pledge forms can be picked up from the Hub or downloaded from the Hub Hospice website (

We hope to see you there, rain or shine!
