Hospital and Foundation chairs face fundraising challenge

VP & Chief Nursing Executive Heather Garnett fires the starting gun as Art Solomonian and Paul Virgin come out of the blocks!
VP & Chief Nursing Executive Heather Garnett fires the starting gun as Art Solomonian and Paul Virgin come out of the blocks!

(Mississippi Mills – 10/09/2015) Almonte General Hospital / Fairview Manor Foundation Chair Art Solomonian has thrown down the challenge to Hospital Chair Paul Virgin. With the 2nd annual Mississippi Mills River Run (and walk) just over a month away, Solomonian is sure that he can run circles around Virgin, at least on the fundraising track…

The Mississippi Mills River Run takes place on Saturday, Oct. 17 beginning at the Almonte Fair Grounds. With routes of 3, 5 and 10 kilometres, there is something for every level of runner. Walkers are also strongly encouraged to take part in the event.

Registration is available at: http://www.aegleevents.com/calendar/mississippi-mills-river-run. Participants are encouraged to sign up individually or to form company, family or neighbourhood teams. Both Solomonian and Virgin are registering board teams and competing to see who will have the largest team of board members and, most importantly for the hospital, which team can raise the most money. All participants are encouraged to seek pledges. Funds raised will benefit the AGH birthing unit. Three new IV pumps were purchased with funds from last year’s event.

“I was born in the old Almonte Hospital,” said Virgin. Art may be the fundraising chair but I owe my existence to that unit… He’s going down!!”

“Paul’s the perfect example of the community members we’re encouraging to get behind the Mississippi Mills River Run,” said Solomonian. “Everyone that was born at AGH or who has had children born at AGH can come out and celebrate how fortunate we are to have Ontario’s top rated birth unit serving our community.”
