'Tis the Season
Humm Happenings for the week of November 28
Although the weather is more suited to ducks than reindeer lately, never fear – Christmas is coming. This weekend offers a host of opportunities to get into the holiday spirit. On Friday, December 2, join thousands of your friends and neighbours on Mill Street in Almonte for this year's Light Up The Night celebration. Hosts Wayne Rostad and Leanne Cusack will be joined by numerous musical guests, puppets, twinkle fairies and Santa himself. The celebration continues in Mississippi Mills on Saturday with the Pakenham Santa Claus Parade and on Sunday with the Almonte Santa Claus Parade. Before the parade in Almonte join students from Naismith Public School and ADHS for a Christmas Concert & Sing-A-Long in Centennial Square in Downtown Almonte.
If you’re searching for an original, well-crafted gift for your child’s teacher, your boss, your spouse or yourself, you’re sure to find something that suits your taste – and your budget – at the Crown & Christmas Art and Craft Sale. Organized by the Crown and Pumpkin Studio Tour committee, the show features a number of well-known tour members as well as many guest artists. The show offers a broad selection of juried, high-quality, locally-made work. The show takes place at the Mississippi Valley Textile Museum.
It wouldn't be Christmas time without a panto from the madcap Mississippi Mudds of Carleton Place. This year, their production of Alice in Wonderland includes those familiar characters we’ve all come to love (or wonder about!) like Alice, the Mad Hatter, the Cheshire Cat, and the White Rabbit. But there are a few other characters involved as well, to add a few new spins to the favourite tale.
