Carleton-Mississippi Mills MPP Jack MacLaren is in trouble again, this time for posting testimonials on his official website from people “he appears to have made up”, says a story in the National Post.
The Post story says that photos on MacLaren’s website supposedly depicting local constituents were actually of a US television actress, a New Zealand-born software developer, and a woman photographed in San Francisco in 2013. Another photo was apparently of a couple taken in Manchester, UK, in 2009.
The Post says that after it published the story, a disclaimer was added to MacLaren’s website saying, “In order to maintain the privacy of constituents, stock photos and generic names have been used.”
According to the CBC, MacLaren “apologized for posting fake constituent endorsements on his website” at Queen’s Park today. A later CBC story says that PC Leader Patrick Brown “removed MacLaren as the eastern Ontario representative in the PC caucus and gave the job to another Tory member of the legislature, Jim McDonell, but stopped short of removing him from caucus entirely.”
