Lanark OPP respond to over 30 car crashes on Saturday

opp

(Lanark County, ON) –   Between 6 a.m. and 9 p.m. on Saturday, December 19, 2015, officers from the Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated 32 collisions, with further collisions being reported.

Most of the collisions involve single motor vehicles and no serious injuries had been reported.

Drivers will face further challenges as darkness falls.

Public safety is a priority for the OPP and Lanark County officers request that drivers consider taking the following precautions;

  • Please reduce speed and allow other motorists to do the same.
  • Do not travel close to other vehicles and avoid excessive acceleration especially in the case of unnecessary passing of slower vehicles.
  • Be aware snow tires and or four wheel drive do not guarantee a vehicle will remain on the highway, regardless of driver action.

Best safe practice is to consider the old wartime slogan “Is your journey really necessary?”
