The North Lanark Historical Society is continuing its spring Speaker Series with a presentation by Sue Shute on Wednesday, June 7th at 7pm at the North Lanark Regional Museum (647 River Rd, Appleton) at our Annual General Meeting. Sue will be discussing how quilts were used during the Underground Railroad to guide slaves to freedom. Sue has been the owner of Quilting Quarters in Almonte for 14 years and is as passionate about quilts as she is knowledgeable. Admission is by donation and refreshments will be provided. All are welcome to attend.

At the North Lanark Historical Society, we welcome new and renewed memberships. We have an active schedule organizing guest speakers and family-friendly events, preparing history publications, and collecting stories and objects from the past and bringing them to life at the North Lanark Regional Museum. We also keep our members informed of our activities through a quarterly newsletter. We have one of the lowest membership fees around, just $15 for an individual and $25 per family! If you’re a Historical Society member, make sure to renew your membership in time for the AGM to make your vote count!
