ARTIST: KATHERINE MCNENLY, VISUAL ARTIST/PAINTER

This body of work represents the artists’ fascination with light and form, on both a physical and emotional aesthetic level. The subjects range from still life and portrait to landscape. The paintings are meticulous recreations in traditional technique with a contemporary feel.
Katherine studied Fine Art at York University in Toronto. She pursued a traditional approach to art in the studio of the renowned portrait painter and teacher John Angel where she spent several years. She also studied in Florence, Italy at the atelier Cecil Graves, a school based on the principles of a 19th century French academy. Katherine has been a finalist in the Kingston Prize and the American Portrait Prize where she received an Award of Honour. She has paintings in collections across Canada, the U.S. and Europe. She resides and has her studio in the town of Almonte.
