Come celebrate tradition and local spirit at the Pakenham Fair on Saturday, August 15. This classic country fair, held in the heart of the Pakenham, is perfect for a summer day trip. With an entry fee of only $4, the fair offers an inexpensive day packed full of activities for the whole family. Plus, children under the age of 12 are free!
The theme of this year’s fair is centred on corn. Thus, it is fitting that our official openers will be Hudson family. Look for Hudson’s cooked corn on the cob at the fair to help you get into the spirit of the day.
The fair includes horse shows, 4-H, and competitions such as the Man’s Best Friend contest and a frog jumping challenge. These events are as fun to watch as they are to participate in. There will also be live entertainment, featuring Eccentric Adam, a circus and comedy performer. Kids activities also include a petting zoo, T-shirt making with a local artist and a bouncy castle.
The fair also boasts of vendors and food producers from the area. There will be a bake sale, and numerous tables selling jams, pickles, jellies, epicure, local beer and more. We also host local businesses and crafters with a wide range of products and displays, including jewellery, recycled furniture pieces, sewing and knitted work.
There’s no better way to get a taste for a small town than through a country fair. It is a great way to commemorate the heritage and culture of rural life – but with an added dash of fun.
Volunteers are always welcome at the fair, and we encourage anyone interested to contact us using the information below.
