Mississippi Mills JR’s Restaurant has been sold

Jeff Robertson opened JR’s 28 years ago and it has grown to be one of the most popular restaurants in the community. Asked how he got into the restaurant business, he related how, when he was 20, a friend of his mother’s tried to order a pizza in Almonte. There were no pizza outlets in town and the friend suggested that opening one would be profitable.

Jeff took the hint and at the age of 20 opened the J.R. Pizza Company, which was indeed profitable and he expanded the business to the J’R’s full service restaurant that we know today.

Jeff has decided that it is time for a change and last Thursday at 11:58 p.m. he sold the bustling enterprise  to Michael Houchaimi. Houchaimi has experience in the restaurant business, having  previously operated Gourmet in Carleton Place.

Jeff says he plans to travel with his family for the summer and then will decide what to do. The Millstone contacted the new owner but as it was the busy lunch time, we have arranged to interview him next Monday about his plans for the restaurant.
