My “go to” wines

Mark Cochraneby Mark Cochrane

Over the years I’ve developed a list of my “go to” wines. These wines are available at most LCBO outlets and are of a consistently good quality across different vintages while maintaining a reasonable price point.  I’m confident I will be buying a good wine that I can bring to a friends’ house for dinner or to simply stock my own wine cellar.

Here’s a small sample from my “go to” wine list.

Hob Nob Chardonnay – Pays D’Oc, France ($11.95 – LCBO 232710)

HobNob_chard_web

I’ve received a lot of positive comments when this wine is served. Apple and citrus flavours with a good balance of fruit, acidity and oak aging. A toasty oaked chardonnay that pairs well with maple glazed salmon or simple served on its own

Available at Terry Fox & Campeau or Carleton Place LCBO

Gnarly Head Old Vine Zinfandel – California, USA ($10.95 – LCBO 678698)

GnarlyHead_Zin_web

A dark rich Zinfandel with aromas of cedar, smoke, dark cherry and flavours of dark cherry and chocolate A great wine that pairs well with pizza or beef fajitas.

Available at the Carleton Place LCBO or 858 March Road LCBO in Kanata

Cheers!
