OPP needs info on recent Almonte graffiti vandalism

As many readers will know, several buildings and other structures around the bottom end of Mill Street were smeared with spray-painted graffiti in the middle of the night late last month.

We held off on reporting this story in the hope that someone would come forward and identify the vandals responsible for this desecration of our historic downtown. So far no one has.

We’re sure someone knows something. The OPP are investigating and have issued this press release:

The Lanark County OPP are currently investigating several incidents that occurred overnight June 24-25 2016. On the morning of the 25th business owners found several storefronts, municipal properties and murals had been spray painted along Mill Street in Almonte.  Estimated cost of damages is $10,000.

The OPP requests the assistance of the public in identifying the individual or individuals who committed this damage.  If you have any information in regards to this damage done to your town, please contact the Lanark County OPP detachment at 1-888-310-1122. People can also use the self- reporting system at www.OPP.ca or can contact Crime Stoppers to report any information anonymously.
