Pakenham set to celebrate 50th Anniversary of its school with an open house and community dance October 19 & 20

November 8th marks the 50th anniversary of the Pakenham Public School, and to celebrate, the school council has been busy planning events to celebrate this golden milestone for the community and school alumni.

A family event will kick things off on Friday October 19th with a school open house. Take a trip down memory lane and visit the Pakenham Public School from 5-8pm where you could meet up with old classmates, see PPS memorabilia, enjoy light refreshments and attend a special presentation at 6pm. This event is free of charge and everyone is welcome.

The headlining event for the 50th celebrations is the community dance on Saturday October 20th at the Stewart Community Center in Pakenham, from 7pm-1am. Your $20 ticket gets you into the not to be missed event, where there will be live entertainment by Bustin’ Loose, late night snacks and a great time to be had all. Age of majority is required for this event. Tickets are available for purchase at Pakenham Public School, Nicholson’s store in Pakenham, or by contacting school council chair, Jenn Downey via email at

School council published a 50th Anniversary Cookbook earlier this year, full of great recipes from alumni, teachers, family and Pakenham community members. They are available at both events, or at the school for $15. The proceeds of both the cookbook and the dance tickets will be going back into the school, towards the goal of playground improvements.

There is an active Facebook Page set up to build interest for the events and fundraising efforts. Look up the “@PPS50Anniversary” page on Facebook and get updates on events and see photos pulled from the archives being shared.
