Officers from the Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police, together with the Coroner’s Office of Ontario, continue to investigate a collision between two vehicles on County Road 10 in the township of Beckwith that happened at 8:44 pm on Thursday 28th March 2013.
OPP are establishing how an east-bound Honda Civic with three occupants collided with a west-bound GMC pickup truck with three occupants on Richmond Road (County Rd 10) west of Crooked Road Side Road in the village of Prospect.
The driver of the car, Madeleine Havelock (21 years) and a passenger, Thomas Guerette (22 years), both from Ottawa, were killed. Another female passenger suffered major injuries.
Madeleine and Thomas were Trent University students, and were on the way to visit their families in the Ottawa area for Easter when the crash occurred.
Two male occupants of the truck suffered minor injuries and one suffered major injuries.
County Road 10 between Ashton Station Road and Derry Side Road was closed overnight but is now open.
