July 16-20 and/or July 23-27
Chandler Swain’s Studio : Blakeney ON (5 kms from Almonte)
After a 5 year hiatus where I spent my energy helping to start and manage General Fine Craft with Richard Skrobecki, I am ready to invite a limited number of students to my riverside studio to be immersed in the world of clay for two 1-week sessions.
What to expect:
Having a stress-free, fun time. All levels welcome: Including no previous experience.
10 am- 4 pm days spent in my riverside garden outdoor teaching space by the beautiful Mississippi River near Almonte : a 35 min. drive west of Ottawa
A full week allows you to really cement your skills and work out ideas. Learn how to approach your work in a focused, supported manner with the use of all that is at hand in a professional studio: books, samples of great clay art, tools and knowledge. Making, decorating, design and firing will be discussed as we go along.
There will be a project each day that requires investigating a different way to use clay.
You can follow this curriculum or come with a special project /investigation in mind: Whatever suits.
* note: many students already are studio members at other studios: therefore firing and glazing hasnt been factored into this week. If you are interested in doing a day of firing and decorating with me: this will be at a later date in August. I will bisque all your work. A glazing/decorating day fee will be $100/person.
