Remembrance Day 2017

by Brent Eades

The weather cooperated again this year as sunny skies greeted the several hundred people who gathered at the Almonte Cenotaph for the 2017 observance of Remembrance Day.

Rev. Pat Martin and Rev. Father Paul Gaudet read the long list of names of local men who died while serving in World Wars I and II; many of the last names are those of families who still live in our area.
Wreathes were laid at the foot of the statue commemorating Lt. Alex Rosamond, who died  in the Battle of the Somme on September 15, 1916, leaving behind his wife Mary Eleanor and four young daughters.
