Did you attend S.S. #11 in Appleton, Ontario?
We are looking for all those that may have attended S.S. # 11 as students or teachers and, would like to get together for reminiscing and some good old fun! Descendants of those attending over the years are most welcome as well and; of course, residents of Appleton village – please come join in the fun!
Museum volunteers are hard at work planning a school reunion Saturday, August 04, 2018. Kick off took place last summer at a Tea on the Lawn at the North Lanark Regional Museum (647 River Road). This was a wonderful chance for former students and teachers to chat about the past and be part of the discussion about the future reunion. We welcome any ideas, and input from each of you. Please contact Nancy Dupuis at email@example.com or 613-222-1771 for further information.
A Facebook page “Remembering SS#11, Appleton, ON” has been set up for previous teachers, students and friends to share fond memories and keep in the loop on what’s being planned, you’re more than welcome to join the fun! As well, please gather up any old school memorabilia you might have, the Museum would love to see it displayed that weekend.
A couple of fundraisers to offset expenses are currently underway – a 2018 calendar depicting the school and life in the village during those years as well as monthly fall and winter euchre parties. The excitement grows as we move forward with these ideas.
A database of approximately 400 names of former teachers and pupils from the early 1900s has been captured and we look forward to adding much more information as we set up a table at the North Lanark Agricultural Society’s Almonte Fair this coming July. Please drop by and see us. This document will not only be useful in contacting those regarding the reunion but will be an everlasting piece for the Museum’s archives.
Pass the word! This will be such an opportunity to meet old neighbours and friends!
So much fun has already been had by the organizing committee – what memories of our childhood days!
