The Mississippi Mills Youth Centre is hosting yet another year of fun summer camp programming!

This year is a little different because of Covid-19.  After consulting with our local health unit and considering the health and safety guidelines put out by the Ontario Ministry of Health, we decided to run two separate summer camp groups!

  • Camp runs from July 6 to July 31
  • Youth can choose between either the morning group or the afternoon group

Both groups offer spots for 8 youth plus 2 staff.

The morning group runs from 8:30 am to 12:00 noon and the afternoon group runs from 1:30 pm to 5:00 pm.

The majority of the program will be spent outdoors with participants physically distanced.  Anyone entering the centre including youth, staff, volunteers and community members must wear masks. We will screen staff and youth for wellness, will be following a strict cleaning and sanitizing protocol, and will still keep summer camp fun and engaging!

This Monday to Friday GO camp (get outdoors) features crafts, skill building, self-care, nature, sports, games, and beach activities. We will also have special Zoom guest leaders like Francine, an indigenous elder, who will be teaching youth the 7sacred teachings (and drumming) every Thursday!

Youth must register for a full week at a time – no daily drop-ins this year because of our safety precautions. A full week of programming with healthy snacks included costs $75.  We have full or partial subsidy available for anyone who needs it thanks to the generosity of our community!  Times are tough with Covid limiting employment, so please don’t hesitate to ask for a subsidy.

If you’re interested in learning more or registering your youth for camp, email or call 613-256-5959.  Of course anyone who wants to sponsor a youth can also contact us!
