Petawawa woman dies after car rolls into water-filled ditch

In a tragic pre-Christmas accident, 43 year old Susan Martinat of Petawawa died after her car rolled into a water- and slush-filled ditch at March and Upper Dwyer Hill Roads just outside of Almonte at morning rush hour on December 20, 2012. She was trapped in the car which was flipped upside down in the ditch in about a metre of water. When extricated, she was in cardiac arrest and Almonte paramedics started resuscitation efforts. Those efforts continued as she was flown to the Ottawa Civic Hospital by ORNGE air ambulance. She died in hospital at about 2 p.m. . See the Ottawa Citizen report
