The Millstone is growing up. We started as a very tiny publication serving our community in June of 2011 and have developed a loyal following. Over 4,500 people read The Millstone each month, most from this community, but we also have readers from such faraway places as Switzerland, Japan, Germany and France, Australia and India. Our efforts are really directed at subjects of interest to current and former residents of Mississippi Mills. We know that some former residents of this dynamic community keep in touch with it through the Millstone.
We appreciate the support of all of our readers, and of those very competent writers, web experts and donors who have come forward to support this online news source for Mississippi Mills. In addition to our talented columnists, we rely heavily on citizen reporting as we are still very lean on volunteer staff.
On Sunday, November 4, we shall be moving to a more sophisticated web service: WordPress, used by such publications as the Financial Post. This will give us more flexibility and a much more attractive and user-friendly web presence. We are still a volunteer organization. We accept no paid advertising although we will advertise local businesses free of charge.
We hope you will like the new format. Special thanks to Mississippi Mills resident Brent Eades who runs the popular Almonte.com website and who designs and maintains websites for a living. He is responsible for our new look.
